PLANNING TOOLS

Calculators & Info

Quick calculators for landscape projects plus reference tables including cinder block walls, vehicle clearance heights and native plant spacing guidelines with planting depth.

Flower Bed Volume Calculator

Enter length, width, and depth to calculate cubic yards of coverage. Results update as you type.

Tip: A 3-inch mulch depth is standard for flower beds. Add 10% extra if the bed has uneven edges or you want a little buffer.

Enter dimensions above to see your estimate.

Gravel Driveway Calculator

Enter driveway length in linear feet, width in feet, and gravel depth to estimate cubic yards and tonnage.

ft

Linear feet along the drive

ft

Tip: New gravel drives often use 4–6 inches of crusher run for the base and 2–3 inches of crushed gravel or asphalt milling on top. Add 5–10% extra for compaction and settling.

Enter driveway dimensions above to see your estimate.

Low Voltage Landscape Lighting Voltage Drop Calculator

Select common landscape lighting voltage and wire gauge. Enter the one-way run length and total fixture wattage to estimate voltage delivered at the end of the run.

ft

Transformer to farthest fixture

watts

Tip: 12 AWG is the go-to for most residential 12 V runs up to ~100 ft. Aim to keep drop ≤ 5–8% for even fixture brightness.

Select voltage & wire size, then enter length and total watts to calculate.

Sprinkler Zone Calculator

Plan one irrigation zone at a time. Enter your available flow, choose Hunter-style nozzles (MP Rotators recommended), and see how many heads you can safely run without exceeding capacity.

Inspired by the Hunter Sprinkler Zone Calculator. Data approximate; verify with actual site conditions and Hunter charts.

GPM

From water source or pipe calc

PSI

MP Rotators prefer 40 PSI (use regulation)

Add different arcs or types to mix in one zone. Qty starts at 1; edit below.

Tip: MP Rotators use far less water per head than conventional sprays while providing matched precipitation and excellent coverage. Use pressure-regulated bodies.

Cinder Block Wall Calculator

Choose a common cinder block (CMU) size, enter wall length and height (or courses). Calculates quantity needed plus approximate Home Depot retail pricing for the blocks.

Controls core grouting + vertical #4 rebar. 24" is a common intermediate spacing for moderately loaded walls.

ft

Along the wall

Or switch to number of courses (e.g. 6 courses of 8" block = 4 ft)

Tip: Nominal sizes include standard ⅜" mortar joints. Pricing shown uses approximate current Home Depot retail (see data/cinder-blocks.json). Add 5–10% extra blocks for waste, cuts, and breakage.

Select a block size and enter length & height to calculate.
